Hind Al-Eryani: A girl's attempt to reclaim the "Yemen Felix" name, the fight against Qat

Hind talks about her campaigns with her colleagues against Qat, that, as she says, has attached itself to the image of Yemenis before the world, and how Qat has crippled the country. She also explains how those campaigns have reached different platforms, starting from social media websites all the way to open squares, schools, government institutions, and tribal areas, mentioning the ups and downs that these campaigns have faced.

"This useless woman has been on a mission to ban the consumption of khat since early 2009. She has had zero influence on farmers or ministers. Her only achievement is amassing a substantial amount of twitter followers and facebook users, which anyone with half a brain and an internet connection can do. So, please, for the love of God, stay in Lebanon and tweet about worthless Gulf TV shows and airy fairy issues and spare us your drivel!"  -  Yahya@LiftTheKhatBanTwitter

You can talk till hell freezes over, khat will always be grown and consumed in Yemen, and next time you're on TV wear something decent. You look like a tramp!

+Yahya Ali  Yahya, the fact is since we had nationalism we should have focused on jobs through the main economics of Yemen for instance Coffee, Myra, frankincense. But because there is no Jobs in Yemen we turn to Qat and Chew at least 12 hour shift. Who's to blame the government or the pupils. "Change comes within you first" and not the government. I personally think this binge qat chewing is the worst for yemen. In fact through out Yemens history stats show there has been a decline in Yemen progress, illnesses and diseases and that's because Yemeni people are chewing far more than ever. So with all the above you got to admit QAT HAS TO GO. Yemen is far better than this radicals plant. What I despite the most when I meet a Yemeni who chews and try's to please his ego by stating "Qat is okay if only you don't chew everyday". Well get this Yemeni people chew EVERY DAY. look around you they declining in the 21st century because of this useless drug.

Voice a little bit shaky though, but very brave indeed. Great effort, and move ahead.
N.B. I never though there are such fantastic women in Yemen.
