29/01/2015 18:18:40

EDM Electronic Dance Music has become the sound of a generation, but the people making it are almost exclusively men. In this inspiring talk, music producer and DJ Dani Deahl uncovers the myths and roadblocks surrounding women's involvement in producing dance music.

DJ, music producer and journalist, Chicago's Dani Deahl is involved in the dance music scene from nearly every angle. As a leader for women within dance music, she has become the voice for addressing why there are still inequalities within the community, and encouraging more women to become involved.

This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at

if noboy likes your music, watches your videoclips on youtube then festivals won't book you

as simple as that, you can't force people to listen to female DJs

Good talk! I felt this exact way when I started producing a few years ago and never thought I would be able to do nearly half of what I can today. This is a male dominated industry and it's always refreshing to see other females that believe in their abilities, and keep pushing forward! Keep doing your thing and inspiring other females girl!
